The day we arrived we toured The Art Institute of Chicago. This is a must see for me on every visit to the Windy City. My favorite Picasso is on display there, The Old Guitarist. There are many beautiful paintings in the museum but this is my favorite. Seeing my favorite paintings is like seeing old friends. I find new ways to appreciate them and they get better as time goes on. This time I bought a small print to bring home with me. Now I can look at the Guitarist any time I want. I only wish I could have seen the Edward Hopper exhibit, but I suppose that gives me a reason to go back! The next day we walked down Michigan Avenue from our hotel. As we crossed the bridge over the Chicago River we were stunned to see the slabs of ice covering nearly the entire river.
The rest of the afternoon we spent in shopping on Michigan Avenue. We even went to the Hershey store for an afternoon snack, it was pretty delicious. Below is my mom and I with the Chicago Water Tower lit up behind us.
Though it was extremely cold for part of the weekend it was a great trip. Chicago is definitely my kind of town!

I am so glad that its a fun place. You need to tell me everything you know about it. You'll have a place to stay next time you come.
What a great trip! You look so cute in your cold weather clothes. Too bad it just got like 95 degrees here.
